Occupational Medicine is that medical specialty dealing with the
influence of work on health, and of health on work.
It seeks primarily to assess the risks to health from work and hence
to help in preventing ill-health as well as in promoting health in populations
of workers. However all too often, occupational physicians have to deal
with disease and its consequences and engage in various measures such as
rehabilitation in order to aim to achieve the highest possible degree of
health and well-being in the individual worker.
